NAMI Brazos Valley in The Eagle
The Eagle recently highlighted NAMI Brazos Valley’s Executive Director, Jody Schulz, and her understanding of mental illness after her son’s diagnosis. She says in the article, “He wasn’t just doing this to me because he was ‘being bad.’ He just has a brain that doesn’t work like mine.” The article also says, “According to the Texas Department of State Health Services, 75 percent of mental health issues and substance use begin before the age of 24 and half before the age of 14. If caught early, Parks said mental health problems can be successfully treated.” NAMI Brazos Valley continues to offer support to those diagnosed with a mental illness and their loved ones.
